Dr Ross King
“Walking on Eggshells? Improving communication and connecting with your loved one."
Dr Ross King in an Associate Professor in the School of Psychology at Deakin University, Victoria, and a registered clinical psychologist with 25 years experience in public psychiatry, community and private practice settings. Ross has a special interest in eating disorders and has published various research articles on caring for those with an eating disorder. He ran a support group for carers for 13 years in Geelong, and was one of the Australian pioneers of the 6-week ‘collaborative care’ workshops for carers of a loved one with an eating disorder. Michelle Roberton

Michelle Roberton is an Accredited Practising Dietician with over thirty years experience in mental health and eating disorders. A long-term member of the senior clinical team at the Victorian Centre of Excellence in Eating Disorders Michelle operates a dietetic private practice specialising in eating disorders and eating behaviour in Melbourne. Michelle has extensive experience working with people with eating disorders, parents and clinicians in treatment, case consultation, training and service development.

Belinda Caldwell

Belinda Caldwell is the parent of a child who developed an eating disorder in 2011 and undertook Family Based Treatment (FBT) at Royal Children's Hospital Melbourne (RCH). A nurse by training, she currently works as a Carer Consultant for the Victorian Centre of Excellence in Eating Disorders and as a Parent Skills Workshop facilitator at RCH. Her previous life had her working in primary health care change management, public health and as CEO of the peak professional association for nurses in primary care. June Alexander
“Taking care of yourself - This is your story."
June Alexander developed anorexia nervosa at 11 years old, an illness that challenged and shaped her life. A love of words became a tool for survival and she became a senior writer, editor and newspaper columnist. After recovering from her illness at age 55 in 2006, June departed her journalism career to write books – combining her life experience and professional skills. June’s published titles include: My Kid Is Back; memoir A Girl Called Tim; A Collaborative Approach to Eating Disorders; Anorexia Nervosa – a Recovery Guide for Sufferers, Friends and Families; A Clinician’s Guide to Binge Eating Disorder; and ED says U said – Eating Disorder Translator. Lesley Cook is a Director of ‘Partners in Practice’, a health and community service consultancy based in Sydney. After a lifetime working with community organisations in the areas of mental health and family welfare, Lesley specialises in translating knowledge from lived experience and research into practice that actually works. As part of this work, Lesley collaborates with community organisations helping to shape their stories – and the stories of the people who use their services – to advocate for social change. Lesley has been actively involved with the National Eating Disorders Collaboration (NEDC) since 2009, supporting their Evidence from Experience’ work.
